Support That Starts at School

McKinley’s school-based mental health services bring care directly to students—on campus, during the school day. Our clinical team collaborates with teachers, counselors, and families to provide trauma-informed therapy and support tailored to each child’s emotional and behavioral needs.

What We Provide On Campus

Individual Therapy

One-on-one counseling sessions support students dealing with stress, anxiety, trauma, and behavior concerns. Services are personalized to meet each student’s developmental and emotional needs.

Family Therapy

When appropriate, therapists can coordinate with families to provide support that extends beyond the classroom, helping caregivers stay involved in their child’s progress.

Families don’t need to be on campus to participate—our therapists can coordinate care around school schedules.

Behavior Support Plans

Our clinicians work with school teams to develop behavior support strategies that help students succeed socially and academically.

Group Therapy & Structured Group Services

Some campuses offer small group support to help students develop social-emotional skills in a peer setting. These services may be provided daily or several times per week depending on student needs.

Extended Support Coordination

If a student’s needs go beyond on-campus services, our team can help coordinate access to psychiatric consultations, psychological testing, or medication support through McKinley’s community-based programs.

Our School Partnerships

McKinley partners with schools and districts across Los Angeles and Riverside. Our services are available in both general and special education settings. Referrals typically come through school counselors, psychologists, or administrative staff, and we collaborate closely with IEP and SST teams when needed.

Compassionate, Collaborative, and Trauma-Informed

Every student is unique. Our clinicians use evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed strategies, and social-emotional learning techniques to help students build resilience, self-awareness, and healthy relationships. We believe in partnering with educators and families every step of the way.

On-Campus and Ready to Help

Services are delivered directly on school campuses in private, youth-friendly spaces during the school day. This model helps reduce barriers like transportation or missed class time—making it easier for students to get the help they need in a safe, familiar setting.
