Domestic Violence Counseling Services
Since 2022, McKinley has provided domestic violence group services in Riverside County for both survivors of abuse and individuals seeking to change abusive behaviors. Our programs are trauma-informed, accountability-focused, and designed to promote safety, healing, and long-term stability. This program is intended for parents involved with the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), including parents working toward reunification or rebuilding stability following a removal from the home. A parenting component is integrated throughout to support safe, healthy family relationships.
Services for Survivors focus on safety, empowerment, and recovery and include safety planning and lethality assessment, individualized service planning, referrals to community resources, strengthening social support, self-protection strategies, and education to support the transition from victim to survivor.
Services for Individuals Who Have Used Abusive Behaviors emphasize accountability and behavior change through education on the dynamics and impact of domestic violence, strategies to identify and redirect harmful thoughts and behaviors, development of non-abusive responses, and skills building in coping, emotion regulation, problem-solving, and healthy parenting and family relationships.
Program Structure & Format: The program runs approximately 12 weeks and typically includes one individual intake session, one individual discharge session, and 10 weeks of group sessions. Groups are offered primarily via telehealth, with some in-person options available when appropriate.
