Therapeutic Behavioral Services
Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) provides short-term, individualized support for children and youth with serious behavioral challenges. TBS helps children remain safely in their home, school, or community by addressing behaviors that may otherwise lead to psychiatric hospitalization, placement change or higher levels of care. Services can be provided in the home, at school, and in other community settings, as clinically appropriate.
TBS targets behaviors such as aggression, elopement, defiance, and self-harm while helping children build coping skills and improve emotional regulation. TBS is an adjunct service, meaning it works alongside the child’s existing mental health team and typically includes collaboration with caregivers and other key supports.

McKinley provides TBS services in Los Angeles County (Service Area 3) and in the Western and Mid-County regions of Riverside County. Clients must have full-scope Medi-Cal and meet program eligibility requirements to receive services.
