Applying for a new role can bring a lot of questions, so we keep our hiring process clear, supportive, and centered on your success. From your first application to your first day, we want your experience to reflect McKinley’s values of compassion, growth, and community impact. While each position is unique, here’s what you can generally expect:
Identify & Apply
Explore open roles and submit your resume online to start your journey with McKinley.

Review & Screening
Our dedicated HR team and hiring managers carefully review resumes to identify candidates whose skills and passion align with the position and our mission.

Assessments & Interviews
Depending on the role, you may be asked to complete a brief skills assessment to demonstrate your abilities, followed by an interview with our hiring panel to explore your potential fit within McKinley’s team.

Offer & Acceptance
Candidates selected for hire will receive a job offer, typically within two weeks of the final interview. From there, we’ll walk you through the next steps and ensure you feel confident in joining our team.

Onboarding
New team members complete a two-week onboarding program designed to set you up for success. You’ll learn about McKinley’s mission, values, and resources—making sure you feel welcomed, prepared, and part of our community from day one.

Internships & Entry-Level Pathways
McKinley is more than a place to work—it’s where future leaders grow. Our internships, mentorship opportunities, and early career roles provide hands-on experience in supporting youth, families, and communities.
Volunteer & Unpaid Internships
Unpaid internships at McKinley offer students and individuals a pathway to gain experience, fulfill academic requirements, or give back to their community. These positions provide valuable insight into nonprofit work while helping future leaders build skills, confidence, and connections.
Find Volunteer OpportunitiesAvailable Internship Roles
Our Intern program is intended for second-year master ’s-level students pursuing an MFT, MSW, and/or PCC degree. The program primarily serves Riverside County at this time; however, a limited number of slots are also available for Los Angeles County. Interns gain hands-on field experience, supporting clients ages 0–21.
